AORC crews to benefit from 2021 changes

Crews taking part in next year’s BFGoodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship (AORC) have been handed some good news ahead of 2021 in regard to registration.

For the 2021 season, competitors will not have to pay to register in the championship with Motorsport Australia removing the fee, making it easier for competitors to enter an event of their choosing.

As such, there will no longer be a requirement to register to score points in the championship, meaning everyone who enters one of the five AORC rounds can be in the running for both their respective class and the outright title.

While competitors do not need to register for the championship to score points, they are still required to register for an off road number for 2021.

Motorsport Australia Director of Motorsport and Commercial Operations Michael Smith was thrilled to be able to have the fees removed for the season.

“It’s been a difficult year for everyone with a lack of events so we were really happy to be able to remove registration fees and make it more inclusive for competitors at all levels,” Smith said.

“In removing the fee, we are also hopeful that more people will compete in the whole championship, meaning there could be a lot more challengers for the outright title.

“With all five rounds confirmed to run in 2021, we’re really excited for what the season will have to offer for off road competitors and fans.”

The 2021 season begins with the Cobb & Co Hotel St George 399 in March, before heading to Finke in June, Loveday in July, Rainbow in August and Kalgoorlie for the final round in October.
